VI.2. Approval of Membership in the Los Angeles County School Trustees Association for the 2016-2017 School Year - YANTZ
Recommended Motion:
Dr. Geoff Yantz, Superintendent, recommends that the Board of Education approve the District's membership in the Los Angeles County School Trustees Association for the 2016-2017 school year.

Rationale:
The Los Angeles County School Trustees Association (LACSTA) provides a forum for networking among the school board members and districts within Los Angeles County. The education programs offered throughout the year also provide opportunities for school board members to renew old and make new friendships and discuss school issues. The program topics are chosen to provide relevant information on school concerns.

Recommended Motion:

Dave Lubs, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, recommends that the Board of Education approve the income, expense and the balance sheet statements for the South Pasadena Middle School and South Pasadena High School Associated Student Body (ASB) organizations, as presented in the attachments.

VI.4. Ratification of Commercial Warrants - LUBS
Recommended Motion:

Dave Lubs, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, recommends that the Board of Education ratify the commercial warrants issued from June 30, 2016 through July 19, 2016.  These warrants total $1,533,071.42.

VI.5. Ratification of Purchase Orders - LUBS
Recommended Motion:

Dave Lubs, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, recommends that the Board of Education ratify the purchase orders issued between July 1, 2016 through July 29, 2016 totaling $612,079.40.

VI.8. Approval to Renew 2016-17 Agreement with School Services of California - LUBS
Recommended Motion:

Dave Lubs, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, recommends the approval of the agreement with School Services of California to continue providing up to date information regarding school finance, legislation, school budgeting, general fiscal issues, and the state-mandated program cost claims process information.

VI.19. Approval of Overnight Trip for the South Pasadena High School Boys Water Polo Team to attend Coronado High School Water Polo Tournament September 23-24, 2016 - GERVAIS
Recommended Motion:
Christiane Gervais, Assistant Superintendent, Instructional Services, recommends that the Board of Education approve the participation of twelve to fifteen members of the South Pasadena High School Boys Water Polo team, and five chaperones, at a boys water polo tournament at Coronado High School in Coronado, California from September 23-24, 2016.

Recommended Motion:

VI.22. Approval of Contract for Special Education Transportation Services – LEFEVRE
Recommended Motion:

Dr. Dennis Lefevre, Executive Director of Student Support Services, recommends that the Board of Education approve the contract for Special Education Transportation Services for the 2016-2017 school year for special education students, per their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Services will be provided by Jorge’s Get Around.

VI.23. Ratification of Contract for Special Education Transportation Services – LEFEVRE
Recommended Motion:

Dr. Dennis Lefevre, Executive Director of Student Support Services, recommends that the Board of Education ratify the contract for Special Education Transportation Services for the 2016-2017 school year for special education students. Services will be provided by West Shield Adolescent Services.


VI.24. Approval of Non-Public School Placement – LEFEVRE
Recommended Motion:

Dr. Dennis Lefevre, Executive Director of Student Support Services, recommends that the Board of Education approve placement for a high school student to attend The Institute for the Redesign of Learning-Almansor, non-public school in South Pasadena for the 2015-2016 school year. The cost of tuition is $7,624 and will be paid from Resource Code 65000.0.



VII. Action Items
VII.1. Approval of the Certification of Signatures Form - YANTZ
Recommended Motion:
Dr. Geoff Yantz, Superintendent, recommends that the Board of Education approve the revised Certification of Signatures form, which reflects the addition of Ms. Dana Smith, Director of Fiscal Services.


Rationale:
Ms. Dana Smith, Director of Fiscal Services, is being added to the Certification of Signatures for the District to allow her to approve vouchers and/or serve as a backup check signor in the absence of a Cabinet-level administrator.

VII.2. Assignment of Liaisons to Five Schools, Council PTA and the South Pasadena Educational Foundation (SPEF) - YANTZ
Recommended Motion:

Dr. Geoff Yantz, Superintendent, recommends that the Board of Education assign and elect liaisons to the five school sites, the Council PTA and the South Pasadena Educational Foundation.
Rationale:

Each year prior to the start of the new school year, the Board will select a Board Liaison to each of the five schools, the Council PTA and the South Pasadena Educational Foundation (SPEF).

The current Board Liaisons are as follows:

ARROYO VISTA: Dr. Abajian (assumed in January of 2016)

MARENGO: Ms. Giulioni

MONTEREY HILLS: Mr. Primuth (assumed in January of 2016)

MIDDLE SCHOOL: Dr. Kipke

HIGH SCHOOL: Ms. Eilers

COUNCIL PTA: Ms. Giulioni

SPEF: Mr. Primuth






 
VII.3. Approval of Annual Representation for the Los Angeles County School Trustees Association for the 2016-2017 School Year - YANTZ
Recommended Motion:
Dr. Geoff Yantz, Superintendent, recommends that the Board of Education select a representative to the Los Angeles County School Trustees Association for the 2016-2017 school year.

Rationale:
Historically the Board selects a representative to this organization during the reorganizational meeting in December. Because the membership renews annually during the summer, at which time a new representative is requested, it is the recommendation of the administration to select a representative at the same time that the membership is brought for Board approval.

Recommended Motion:

VII.5. Approval of EasyTurf Proposal to Install Synthetic Turf and Decomposed Granite Area at South Pasadena High School - LUBS
Recommended Motion:

Dave Lubs, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, recommends that the Board of Education approve the EasyTurf proposal to install synthetic turf and decomposed granite in the area west of the counseling building and adjacent to the Tiger Patio at South Pasadena High School.

Recommended Motion:
