The current Local Plan was adopted and approved in April, 2011. Due to changes in Special Education laws, the repeal of AB 3632 in 2010, the repeal of AB 86 “The Highs Bill,” in July 2013 and other legislative changes that have occurred since 2011, the West San Gabriel Valley SELPA convened a committee including representatives of LEA special education administrators and teachers, general education administrators and teachers, and members of the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to develop the proposed revisions. The Local Plan has also been vetted by the SELPA’s attorney for legal requirements. The revisions have been approved by the west San Gabriel Valley Superintendents’ Council, the revised Local Plan must now be approved by the Governing Board of each of the participating LEAs, and finally by the California Department of Education (CDE).
